Program Objectives
This program will prepare students to best practices used by managers
to design market and implement E-Business and E-Commerce solutions to
existing and prospective customers. Student without any computer
programming background will be able to explore tremendous business
opportunities afforded by the Internet and related applications.
Students will be exposed to use of models with the context of building
and using decision support systems and its relationship to
multi-purposes databases. The program curriculum provide fundamental
knowledge and application in both business and information technology.
The curriculum is designed to produce graduates ready to function in
e-Business positions with the competencies, skills, and attitudes
necessary for success in the workplace. Business courses include
coursework in management, organizational behavior, critical thinking,
research and evaluation, financial analysis, and marketing.
Information technology courses include coursework in business system
development, project planning, operating systems, programming,
databases, networks and telecommunications, the Internet and Web, and
e-business. E-Commerce degree program introduces students to the
critical competencies and skills needed to effectively identify,
develop, and implement e-commerce business strategies in various types
of organizations. These competencies and skills are developed using
several key themes incorporated throughout the program in the core
curriculum. Themes include technology-driven change; dynamic
innovation and creativity; globalization of commerce; ethics, social
responsibility, and cultural sensitivity; and integrative systems
thinking and practice. Upon completion of the program, students will
have an understanding of basic business, management, marketing skills,
computer fundamentals, including technical language, software choices,
and hardware. Students will have a practical understanding of the
basics web site design, management, and analysis. Students will
recognize the legal and ethical issues that pertain to multimedia use,
copyrights, and privacy concerns.
